One Way Gen-Z K-Pop Stars Flirt At Music Shows, Straight From A 4th Gen Idol

Dating has always been controversial with K-Pop idols, as fans often have wildly mixed reactions. As a result, idols are often private about their romantic lives and take extra steps to ensure they stay that way.
Usually, many stars’ relationships are only found out through news reports, like those by Dispatch.
But with how busy stars can be and how eyes are constantly on them, one might wonder how relationships can even begin. Recently, a fourth-generation idol shed some light on how it can happen.
Ex-BVNDIT member Seungeun was one of three girl group members featured in a video on the CONSO YouTube channel. She, along with Laboum’s Yujeong and Lovelyz‘s Ryu SooJung, talked about some of the different aspects of their idol careers.
Naturally, the topic of romance came up, with a host asking if there were any romance vibes at music shows, and Seungeun revealed a story from her rookie days.
Seungeun said that when BVNDIT was performing on M! Countdown as rookies, she was in the waiting room when she received an Airdrop notification. Airdrop sends content between Apple devices without needing a person’s phone number.

The image she received was a photo of herself from news articles featuring the group taken that same day, along with a “Hi.” There was one fallback to that method, as she could not see who the person indirectly approaching her was.

When we were using a shared waiting room for M Countdown, a male idol in the room next to ours sent me a news photo of myself from that day via AirDrop. I can’t say what group he was from. He wrote something like, ‘Hi~’ along with it. Of course, I was curious, but it’s not like I could just walk over and check.

Most active idols promoting these days are Gen-Z, who are known to be tech savvy, so it makes sense the flirting has expanded this way!
