Park Bo Gum recently shared his experience working alongside IU in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, and his sincere words have caught fans’ attention.
On March 24, the actor sat down for an interview with SPOTV News to talk about the series and its success — which is closely related to the amazing performances delivered by the two leads. During the conversation, he also touched on his time filming the K-Drama and expressed his admiration for IU’s dedication and work ethic.
Speaking about his co-star, Park Bo Gum praised IU’s strong endurance, not just physically but mentally.
“I think IU has incredible stamina — emotional stamina, that is. Not only was she playing Ae Soon, but she also had to take on the role of Geum Myeong, which made for an exhausting schedule. There was so much she had to do and so many responsibilities she had to juggle. Despite that, she was always attentive on set and showed kindness to everyone around her. That made me want to cheer her on. It was also a meaningful experience to work with someone my age.

The renowned actor also praised IU for her kindness on set, saying he couldn’t help but notice that she always looked after those around her.
She was so generous with her heart toward everyone. Watching her, both as an actress and in many other ways, was inspiring for me, and I truly enjoyed working with her. I just want to say that I was happy to meet her, happy to work with her, and I’m grateful for the experience.

When Life Gives You Tangerines is a coming-of-age story set in Jeju. It follows the lives of Ae Soon (played by IU), a bold and rebellious young woman, and Gwan Sik (played by Park Bo Gum), a devoted and dependable man. Their story unfolds over four seasons, with Park Bo Gum bringing Gwan Sik’s character to life in both the first and second acts.
