Park Bo Gum And Ji Chang Wook-Starrer JTBC Show Flops Despite Impressive Lineup
JTBC’s new entertainment program My Name Is Gabriel has recorded an all-time low viewership in its personal history with its latest episode.
When My Name Is Gabriel was first announced, the project garnered significant anticipation as the brainchild of Kim Tae Ho, the creator of the legendary Infinite Challenge. The star-studded lineup also created a major buzz, as the show brought together big names like Park Bo Gum, Ji Chang Wook, Park Myung Soo, Yeon Hye Ran, Dex, and Gabee as a part of the cast. The show’s concept, which involved these celebrities experiencing the unfamiliar lives of other people all over the world, intrigued many as well.
The show premiered on June 21, and its first four episodes maintained a viewership of over 1%. However, the fifth episode, which was released on July 19, saw a sharp decline, recording 0.897% viewership.
This unexpectedly low viewership has generated quite a discussion online. While some felt that the problem lay with the content itself, others blamed the lack of promotion.
- “I watched it a few times. But it was neither fun nor was the vibe right. So, I ended up switching the channel.”
- “Even though it’s not fun per se, it’s refreshing, something you can watch quietly like Three Meals A Day. I seem to watch it more during the repeat telecasts than the live broadcasts.”
- “Oh! I enjoy it, though. It’s been a while since I found a good entertainment show and I watch it while eating.”
- “Park Myung Soo is freaking hilarious, though.”
- “The ratings are all bad from episode 1 to episode 5. It’s funny that people are trying to determine superiority and inferiority here, too.”
- “[Where’s the] promotion? I don’t even know which OTT platform I can watch it on. If people don’t actively look it up, how else will it get exposure?”
- “The problem starts at the very title.”
- “Whoa. I didn’t even know they were doing this. Gabriel?”
- “I don’t understand the concept. It’s boring.”
