Park Myung Soo Criticizes the Korean Government for Hiked up Mask Prices During the COVID-19 Crisis
On a recent broadcast of KBS’s Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show, Park Myung Soo criticized the Korean government for their handling of the COVID-19 crisis and the scarcity and hiked up prices of face masks.
Park Myung Soo started off by criticizing the current mask prices in Korea.
These days, one mask costs 4 thousand won (~$3.3 USD). They are 4 times more expensive than they were before.

He then went on to address the scarcity of masks and stressed that the government should be providing them in public institutions for all people to have access to.
Masks should be available for free at public institutions. The government says we can just wash our masks and reuse them, but we wouldn’t have to wash them if we had enough. It doesn’t seem right for the citizens of a leading IT country to wash their masks and reuse them because there just aren’t enough.

Park Myung Soo also addressed the hoarding/panic buying situation and expressed that the government should be taking a more active approach to making sure citizens feel helped.
I know those selling the products need to come out with profits, but right now, the citizens desperately need them. The government is simply telling citizens to cheer up and keep fighting, but that’s a sloppy way to go about it. The government needs to act in a way that makes the citizens feel like they’re being helped through their own skin.
