On July 24, Sports World released a report of the parents of NewJeans criticizing Source Music, making it a direct response to the Dispatch article.
In the interview with Minji’s mother, she revealed how happy Minji was after moving to ADOR from Source Music.

— Minji’s mother
Her mother also called out Source Music for the horrible living conditions and long practice hours for a teenage girl.
She also shared Minji’s interest in studying and revealed that she wouldn’t sleep knowing that she might not get up in time for school. Minji’s mother exposed the company stating that they tried to make her quit school as it would make it difficult to practice.
Recently, an online community post garnered attention for a past Phoning message from Minji about school.
When I was a student…I would go to school at 4 AM and just sit there lol. Crazy. Ah no it’s probably because my eyes just opened at 4 AM so that’s why I just went straight to school.
— Minji
It’s finals right…Stay strong…but you know I loved the school atmosphere during monsoon season. I used to arrive at school first and open the doors (the first person had to open the doors at our school). Middle school.
— Minji
I had a dream about going to school recently. A dream about getting up in the morning and getting on the bus. I set an alarm because I might miss my stop.
