People Want Comedian Shin Dong Yup To Step Down From His Regular Programs For Being A “Porn Ahjussi”
Comedian Shin Dong Yup hosts a new Netflix show called Risqué Business: Japan, and now people don’t want to see him on the other programs he is a regular on.
Risqué Business: Japan, which first aired on April 25, is a show in which the comedian and singer Sung Si Kyung interview various people in the adult entertainment industry in Japan to demystify the “taboo” culture of the industry. The two’s sex-related remarks were included without any censoring, and the show was rated unavailable for teenagers due to their high levels of sexual slang.
On April 30, the tvN‘s Amazing Saturday bulletin board was filled with comments from viewers demanding Shin Dong Yup leave the show. They commented that they don’t want to see the “porn ahjussi” on TV and that they must protect the image of Amazing Saturday by taking him off the show.
In addition, SBS‘s Animal Farm viewers requested him to leave the show, stating that “Shin Dong Yup is insufficient” and “disgusting,” mainly because it is a weekend morning family program.
As the controversy around Shin Dong Yup arose, what he said at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards on April 28 was spotlighted. At the awards show, he shared that he is a curious person who likes to do new things.
I’m a curious person and like to do various new things… I like fun things, racy things, etc., and will be continuously trying new things.

Shin Dong Yup has had the image of being involved in racy topics as he was on JTBC‘s Witch Hunt, a talk show where celebrity hosts and guests have discussions about relationships and sex. He is often called the “King of Adult Shows.”
Some netizens argued that they see no problem with Shin Dong Yup appearing on adult shows and that he shouldn’t need to drop his other plays. Regarding Animal Farm, a netizen claimed that he never hurt any animals, so there I no need for him to leave the show.
