Earlier today, Winter and Karina flew to Shanghai to attend their KMS offline fansign event. After arriving, the girls headed towards their hotel. As she walked towards the hotel, Winter was met with a loud group of people who were throwing abuse her way while screaming and shouting curses related to her recent dating rumors.

Hours later — as the full group prepared to enter the building where their offline fansign would be held — people surrounded the entrance, taking videos and pictures of the girls. There were several security guards and managers around.

However, it all went wrong when a person was caught slipping past a staff member and a bodyguard to rush towards the same entrance Winter and Giselle were walking towards. The person was caught by security and wrestled away from there seconds before Winter and Giselle walked in through the entrance.

Another person at the scene posted the video on Threads. It then made its way to X (formerly known as Twitter), where fans reacted horrified, accusing SM Entertainment and their chosen security team of being “incompetent.”

Isn’t the purpose of security to protect the artists? Just standing blankly in front of the car—how does that count as protection? The real issue here is the person who ran in; they deserve to face the consequences. But isn’t the whole point of having security to immediately stop those kinds of lunatics? It’s ridiculous that only one person ran after them, and even that was barely effective. SM needs to provide proper feedback, and Dream With Us should just disappear.

Fans angry with the bodyguards have accused them of weakly standing around the members and not actively looking around to ensure any possible threats are squashed.

Others are left wondering what the person’s plan was once if they had been able to get closer to the girls.

Social media is full of requests for stricter security for aespa. Meanwhile, the group is currently holding their fansign event, where they will greet many Chinese fans.
