Netizens believe HYBE group KATSEYE‘s documentary Pop Star Academy is “sabotaging” the group.
Recently, the Netflix documentary called Pop Star Academy was released.
The show took netizens on a journey to watch KATSEYE’s creation and the hardships the members went through during their debut.
In particular, member Manon‘s treatment by the staff and other members became a hot topic, as clips had netizens angry at her “mistreatment.” The clips showed multiple times where the members and those working with the group seemed to disregard Manon and her experiences, especially after taking time off due to illness.
After the episodes were watched by netizens, many shared how they thought the documentaty “sabotage” KATSEYE and how releasing it post-debut, was just “Messy.”

pop star academy is too messy to have been released post-debut tbhhhh. like all survival programs are messy but they usually air live, so the messiness that is seen by the public is all over and done with by the time the final lineup is selected…

Another fan on TikTok also shared their thoughts. While they loved how honest it was about the experience of the group, they made some of the members look mean and shined a negative light on the experience.
Comments agreed with many adding that they would find it hard to stan the group after seeing the personalities of some of the members. Although some added they have probably grown and sorted everything out, it still paints some of the members in a bad light, though has also brought more eyes to KATSEYE from those who love “drama.”
