Award-Winning 2nd Gen Group Only Sells 4 Albums In A Day — Fans React

Physical sales are only one determiner of success.

While streaming is one way of measuring an album’s success, many people place a greater emphasis on the number of physical albums sold. Aside from fans enjoying the collecting aspect, groups are praised for their ability to sell, with many hitting the million-seller mark these days.

On the other hand, low album sales can be a concern, especially for groups under smaller labels that depend on success to continue promotions. A rookie group even once wagered their future activities on selling what appeared to be a small number of albums.

Recently, fans reacted to a 2nd generation group selling a low amount of albums.

Boy group U-KISS debuted in 2008 under NH Media as a 6-member group.

Through the years, the group’s line-up changed, though they saw a steady rise in popularity, resulting in appearances worldwide. The group entered a hiatus following their release in 2016, returning first in 2022 with a three-person line-up.

In 2023, the group’s new label, Tango Music, announced they would officially return as a six-membered group featuring members who had left years ago.

Since then, the group has made another comeback, releasing their 13th mini album, Let’s Get Started, on June 25.

Throughout the first six days of sales, Let’s Get Started sold 922 copies, recording six and four albums sold on the third and fourth days, respectively. This is well under the amount sold with the release of their last album, Play List.

While this lower amount might be surprising to some, U-KISS fans have had a very different than expected reaction.

Rather than a traditional comeback, U-KISS have not typically promoted the album. To start, the title track’s music video is a performance version of the song instead of a normal music video.

The group have also not appeared on any weekly music shows, and were preparing for their fan concert instead.

Because of these facts, fans have been satisfied with the sales and are grateful U-KISS are currently active.

The group will be in Japan later this month for a series of concerts. Hopefully, the group will continue to have promotions for a very long time!
