Popular 3rd-Gen Idol Announces Unexpected Acting Debut
Former IZ*ONE member and soloist Kwon Eunbi is ready to venture into acting!
Eunbi will make her debut as an actress in the Japanese movie Final Hacking Game. This is the latest installment of the Stolen Identity series, based on the eponymous novel by Akira Shiga.
The singer’s label, Woollim Entertainment, shared the announcement on August 27, KST, when a new trailer and poster for the movie featuring Eunbi was released. Final Hacking Game will see the singer portray the role of Sumin, a mysterious, dark-haired femme fatale. The director, Hideo Nakata, known as a master of Japanese horror, praised Eunbi’s performance as an actor, commending her ability to convey emotions and express her character physically.
On the poster, Eunbi is seen alongside actor Narita Ryo, who plays the character of the serial killer Urano. The trailer begins with a recap of the previous installments of the Stolen Identity series, showing the return of Urano, who targets dark-haired women.
Eunbi’s debut in this series is a significant milestone for her career, as the previous installments have all recorded very high viewership. The series debuted in 2018 and attracted over 1.5 million viewers, grossing over 1.9 billion Yen (nearly 13 million USD). The second installment, Stolen Identity, Trapped Killer, attracted over 900,000 viewers despite being released in 2020 when COVID-19 restrictions were at their peak.
Final Hacking Game was officially invited to the 28th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival last month and drew significant attention. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on November 1. You can watch the trailer here:
