Popular Announcer Gets Severely Injured By Fireworks

A popular female announcer has suffered a serious eye injury during a recent sports event.

32-year-old Kwak Min Seon, a well-known e-sports host, sustained a serious eye injury on May 12 during the PUBG Mobile Pro Series (PMPS) 2024 event. The on-stage fireworks at the event injured her.

Her agency, Starlit Entertainment, released a statement on May 16 outlining her current condition.

Kwak Min-seon’s condition is currently not good. She is undergoing detailed diagnosis and outpatient treatment. We are closely monitoring for any potential vision damage.

On May 12, Kwak was hosting the PMPS event at the e-sports arena in Daejeon when an air shot firework struck her, causing her to collapse. Apart from her eyes, she also sustained injuries on the left side of her face and was immediately transported to a university hospital for treatment.

Kwak debuted in 2016 as the youngest anchor at MTN Money Today Broadcasting and went on to become a popular e-sports host later. She is rumored to be dating soccer player Song Min Kyu of the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC and the South Korean national team. Among fans, she is affectionately known as the “Football Goddess.”
