Popular Female K-Pop Idol Firmly Shuts Down Chaebol Rumors

“It was a lie?!?”

Chaebols are huge and successful families in Korea, and they’re a huge part of popular K-Dramas, which sees chaebol children get ahead in life because of their families’ history.

Idols can also be chaebols, and while it’s not that common, ARTMS member Haseul had to shut down the “absurd” rumors about her wealth.

Back in May, it was reported that Haseul had bought a villa in Itaewon for ₩2.40 billion KRW (about $1.74 million USD). Of course, it sparked rumors that Haseul had a rich background and that it helped her buy such a luxurious home in a well-known area of Korea.

On July 4, Haseul and Kim Lip did a live broadcast for fans. During the broadcast, Haseul hilariously exclaimed, “I’m not a chaebol.”

She explained that the rumors about her buying the villa in Itaewon was a lie, and Kim Lip joked that the members helped to push the narrative.

Haseul pointed out that it was such big news that it got a lot of attention from media outlets, and even the manager was asking about it.

The news was so convincing that she had to phone her mom to confirm that she hadn’t bought a house in Haseul’s name.

Haseul ended by emphasizing that she doesn’t have a luxury villa.

When the video was posted, netizens couldn’t get over how far the “rumors” had gone, and that Haseul wasn’t actually a chaebol.

Haseul was truly iconic, but with her aura and visuals, it’s not surprising that fans believed the chaebol rumors.
