Popular Fourth-Generation Idol Hits Back At An Influx Of Comments Asking Him To Speak English
Live broadcasts have become the perfect way for idols and fans to interact in real time. Idols speaking Korean can sometimes make it hard for international fans to understand, but many try their best to overcome the language barriers.
One idol who is never shy when interacting with fans is P1Harmony‘s Keeho, but he had to respond to comments about the language he speaks.
On February 14, Keeho went live on Weverse to chat with fans.
During the live broadcast, Keeho gained attention after his reaction to comments asking him to speak in English. Fans know that Keeho always does his best to allow all fans to understand him. So, it wasn’t surprising that he brought it up, explaining his confusion as to why the comments are full of those kinds of comments.
‘Dude, speak in English.’ I don’t know why you guys keep asking me to speak in English.
— Keeho
He then explained that he is Korean and that he will try to speak English when he can. In particular, while Keeho is from Canada, he is a K-Pop idol, and sometimes fans forget that P1Harmony has a lot of Korean fans who want to interact with him as well.
I’m Korean guys. I’ll speak in English in between here and there.
— Keeho
While Keeho stayed calm, it wasn’t surprising that the idol had to bring it up as he ended with, “But I just keep seeing people say, ‘Speak in English.'”
When the video was posted, netizens praised Keeho for being so honest about the request. In particular, while some fans explained that they wouldn’t be as polite, others pointed out that Keeho regularly speaks in English for international fans, which makes it ruder for them to demand it from the idol.
Keeho is an idol always praised for his interaction with fans, both Korean and international. It’s not surprising that fans were angry at the comments when Keeho always does his best to interact with everyone during his live broadcasts.
