Popular Survival Show Contestant Makes Acting Debut In BL K-Drama
BL (boy love) dramas have steadily grown in popularity worldwide, leading to more and more being produced yearly. The genre has launched many actors to fame, like Park Seoham, who appeared in the series Semantic Error.
Recently, a new series was announced to be filming and star a popular survival show contestant!
The first survival show program Kim Dongbin appeared on was Produce 101 Season 2, representing Kiwi Media Group. He made it to the eighth episode before being eliminated and ranking 58th.
The trainee then appeared on Produce X 101 representing MLD Entertainment but was again eliminated in episode 8 after ranking 42nd place. After this, he signed with One Cool Jalisco, where he was part of the pre-debut line-up of XODIAC, though he would not make the final group.
In 2023, he appeared on the Hong Kong-based Asia Super Young, competing for a chance to debut again.
Dongbin performed well throughout the show, ranking in the top nine on more than one occasion, but ultimately was eliminated during the show’s final episode.
In an article recently shared by Newspin, Dongbin was revealed to be making his acting debut in the upcoming series, As A Gangster, I Got A Boyfriend. As A Gangster, I Got A Boyfriend stars Dongbin as a down-and-out idol in a dispute with gangsters, with model Kim Han Young playing opposite him.
