Popular YouTuber Kian84 Sparks Controversy With Misogynistic Remark

YouTuber Kian84 (real name Kim Hee Min) has landed himself in hot waters with his problematic comments about women in a recent video.

On January 16, KST, he posted a video on his YouTube channel featuring actress Seo Ji Seung. The two talked about various topics while Kian84 accompanied her on her way to work.

During their conversation, Seo, who is married to actor Lee Si Eon, shared that she prepares breakfast for her husband. Kian84 responded by expressing his admiration for that, prompting the actress to ask if he had any breakfast-related fantasies after marriage. The YouTuber replied, “Men are obsessed with breakfast.” He went on to explain how it was the gesture that counted more than the food, adding, “The food is not the issue. It’s about getting that feeling of ‘being protected (by my wife).'”

But then he proceeded to say something very problematic about women. He remarked, “If my wife doesn’t make me breakfast, wouldn’t she go to the swimming pool and have an affair with a muscular bachelor? Or go to the gym and cheat with a young trainer?” 

The comments took Seo by surprise, who asked Kian84 if he had actually witnessed such a case, to which he responded by saying that he had read many such “scary articles” online.

Kian84’s comments have since gone viral in online communities, with netizens flaming him for his misogynistic attitude. Many asked if he equated a wife with a housekeeper or wanted to imply that it’s a given for a wife to make breakfast for her husband.
