NCT’s Jaemin Invites Criticism With “Exorbitant Prices” For His Exhibition Photo Prints
NCT‘s Jaemin recently held a photo exhibition in June to July 2024. Jaemin is known to be an avid photographer, often sharing his candid works with fans. This time, NCTzens got a closer look at his talent through Narcissism.
The exhibition was a roaring success, with tickets selling out quickly.
After the exhibition concluded, it was announced that some of his works would be made available to the public for purchase as framed prints. It would be a rare chance for fans to collect a piece of his work as a photographer. Although he announced his intentions to donate all the profits, prices gave many sticker shock.
Prints of landscapes from his travels in the United States and Vietnam were priced at ₩850,000 KRW (about $615 USD), while prints of the members on tour went for ₩550,000 KRW (about $398 USD).
Netizens were floored at the prices. They also called him out for using fans’ money to donate, rather than his own.
- F*ck donating. Sell them cheap.
- He should donate using his own money. It’s so uncanny to use fans’ money for his own donations. Does he think fans are sprouting money bags? Every penny is earned through hard work and sweat.
- A newfangled donation approach…
- At first I was like, what’s the problem if it’s a singular limited edition print? But then I realized that they were selling multiple copes of each print, but each person only can buy one. Wow, that’s kinda not…
- I’ll donate, so give me the money.
- Is it right for him to donate using fans’ money?
- Can’t believe he’s calling himself a photographer with such a quality of photos. Even the price too LOL. The spirit of mutual benefit between a fan and idol is so good, right?
- He should just donate his own money. Why is he doing it from money received from fans? LOL.
The frames will be on sale from July 31, 2024. Each person is only allowed to buy one per print.
