“Produce 101” Ahn Joon Young Sentenced To 2 Years For Manipulation Of Votes
Producer Ahn Joon Young, who has been accused of manipulating the Mnet Produce 101 audition series, has been sentenced to two years in prison and a surcharge of around 37 million KRW ($~32,570 USD).
On March 11, the third division of the Supreme Court (presiding Judge Kim Jae Hyung) held an appeals hearing against Ahn Joon Young PD and Kim Yong Beom CP, who were charged with fraud, obstruction of work, etc.
Producer Ahn has been sentenced to two years in prison for altering the rankings by manipulating vote results of viewers for seasons 1-3 of Produce 101.
Netizens who saw his final sentence, still felt that it wasn’t enough compared to how much the trainees suffered.
- “2 years is too short, think about all the trainees that suffered because of this.”
- “If I could I wish he could go to prison for 10 years. I hope all the trainees can be compensated for all that they have suffered. This situation is so sad.”
- “What? 2 years?”
Previously, both Ahn and Kim held a retrial, claiming that although they understood their actions, it was not their intention to commit fraud.
