Produce 101 contestants accused of copying GOT7’s “Hard Carry” for their “original composition”
Some Produce 101 contestants are being accused of making use of GOT7‘s “Hard Carry” in the composition of their original song and choreography.
In a recent episode of Mnet‘s Produce 101, groups had to perform a song a dance as part of the A-F rank level test. The group from Brand New Music, which consisted of trainees Kim Donghyeon, Park Woojin, Lee Daehwi, and Lim Yeongmin, performed what they claimed to be a completely original composition accompanied by original choreography.
The group thoroughly impressed with their performance, with trainers praising trainee Lee Daehwi who claims to have composed the song. However, the trainees have been receiving some negative attention for the similarities that the song has to GOT7’s hit song “Hard Carry.”
Fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on the song, noting that the melody and parts of the choreography are too similar to “Hard Carry” to be an original composition as originally claimed.
U telling me theres nothing similar?

Many fans have expressed that while there’s nothing wrong with performing an arrangement of GOT7’s song, the outrage is stemmed from the fact that “Hard Carry” was never mentioned as an inspiration for the performance despite the stark similarities.
Other viewers of the song have responded to the accusations, claiming that because the two songs are from the same genre, the similarities could just be merely a coincidence.
Honestly, I hate when people say they ‘copy’ Hard Carry. ???#PRODUCE101 pic.twitter.com/hmAnQDGv05
