“Queendom Puzzle” Episode 5: Strong Performances Amidst Rising Tensions
The fifth episode of Queendom Puzzle brought a whirlwind of emotions and electrifying performances as the contestants threw themselves into the “All Rounder” challenge. This week’s episode showcased all the vocal and rap battles, setting the stage for next week’s anticipated dance duels.
As the large teams — “PUZZLE” and “QUEENDOM” — took turns delivering their unique interpretations of popular K-Pop songs, it was clear the competition was only getting fiercer.
The PUZZLE team opened the night with a solid rendition of Crush‘s hit song “Rush Hour” featuring BTS‘s J-Hope. Not only did each member shine individually, but their collaborative effort on the challenging rap parts signaled a well-deserved victory for the first round.
QUEENDOM team answered back with an aesthetically pleasing performance of Taeyeon‘s “Weekend,” marked by good use of props and an unexpected rap part that brought a unique flavor to their stage. Despite their efforts, the vocal performances were less remarkable, leading PUZZLE to secure the first-round win.
The second round heated up as PUZZLE delivered a highly emotive performance of Lim Young Woong‘s “If We Ever Meet Again.” The performance stood out for the commendable camaraderie between Bora and Kei. The erstwhile rivals transformed into a harmonious unit, with Bora particularly impressing with her handling of the high notes.
QUEENDOM’s response was a heartfelt performance of BIG Naughty feat. Lee Suhyun‘s “Hopeless Romantic.” The unit featuring Dohwa, Jiwoo, Fye, and Juri exuded raw emotion and charisma. Dohwa’s leadership skills were noticeable as she steered the unit with determination, and Fye showed commendable effort in working on her pronunciation. Despite their strong performance, PUZZLE once again clinched the win in the second round.
The third round began with PUZZLE’s energetic rock rendition of ITZY‘s “WANNABE.” While the performance was captivating, the song choice might not have been the best for a vocal-focused challenge. Sangah‘s rap was daring, though slightly off the mark thematically. Still, the overall performance showcased the team’s zest and tenacity.
In contrast, QUEENDOM’s rendition of DAY6‘s “Time of Our Life” exhibited thoughtfulness and fun. With guidance from DAY6’s Young K, the members conveyed the song’s emotive essence and energizing vibe brilliantly. Their camaraderie shone through as they offered great vocal performances, making a strong case for themselves in the third round.
As the episode closed without announcing the winner of the third round, the anticipation for next week’s dance battles grew. The cliffhanger announcement by MC Taeyeon about a shocking twist of several disqualifications in episode 7 added an extra layer of suspense. With the competition heating up, fans are on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the Queendom Puzzle saga.
