Rapper IRON under extreme controversy for allegedly glamorizing rape
Shortly after releasing his latest album, rapper IRON found himself in the midst of a controversy.
Korean rapper IRON made his debut in 2015 with the single “blu,” after previously appearing on the hit Mnet show, “Show Me the Money 3.” Recently, on September 9th, IRON released his first full-length album, ROCK BOTTOM. The album features a total of nine tracks, including “ROLL,” “SYSTEM,” “TURN BACK,” and the title track, “ROCK BOTTOM.”
However, the release of the album was met with controversy, as people began to look deeper into the track “ROLL,” which features Kidoh. While the song is not technically labelled as explicit, the lyrics to “ROLL,” include mentions of “rape,” “Ain’t no lover,” “I’m yo f**kin’ owner,” and more.
The complete lyrics to “ROLL” are as follows:
“I heard you said “Boy, just rape me”
I think I’m sober, Not crazy
This is my play gym for you play as muc has you want My babe
Understand this first Ain’t no lover
Brand this in your head I’m yo fuckin’ owner
I conquer, you obey, we only harvest the instinc god seeded
Hol up, I won’t say it twice, strip
Hop up in the bed, How we roll
lemme teach you somethin’, How we roll
We need a shroom, shroom, Super mario

Your wet eyes enjoy this thrill
So many fuckin’ prince I don’t act like a drama
Gon be yo trauma think of me every night
Hop up in the bed, How we roll
lemme teach you somethin’, How we roll
We need a shroom, shroom, Super mario
That’s how we roll, How we roll

All my neighbor says “Where that party up?”
All night vroom vroom Like ferrari yo
That’s how we roll, How we roll
Many people are saying that the lyrics to “ROLL” are highlighting rape as something that can be “romantic” or “attractive,” which is the complete opposite of the stigma that normally surrounds rape. The hashtags, #IronIsCancelledParty and #ironisoverparty were seen on Twitter as people vented their frustration with the song’s lyrics.
Rape isn't romantic. It's disgusting and unacceptable and whoever supports Iron and Kidoh needs to stop. #ironisoverparty #kidohisoverparty

However, the official description of the song states, “There are many types of love in this world. ‘ROLL’ speaks of a sadist and masochist love that refuses to succumb to the eyes of others and screams that this is ‘instinct’ that the creator has planted in them.”
What are your thoughts on the controversy surrounding IRON’s “ROLL”?
