Rapper NO:EL’s Father, Congressman Jang Je Won, Found Dead While Under Police Investigation For Sexual Assault

Former People Power Party congressman Jang Je Won was found dead in an officetel in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, at around 11:40 PM on March 31, 2025. He had been under police investigation after being accused of sexual violence,

A police official stated on April 1, 2025, that “a suicide note was found at the scene. There are no signs of foul play, but we are investigating the exact cause of death.

Previously, Jang Je Won was accused of sexually assaulting his secretary in November 2015 while serving as the vice president of a university in Busan. He denied the allegations and maintained his innocence when he appeared for police questioning on March 28, 2025. However, on March 31, the victim released a press statement along with video evidence purportedly recorded inside a hotel room in Gangnam, Seoul, on the day of the incident. She had also planned to hold a press conference on the 1st to explain the details of the accusation.

He was found dead the day before the scheduled press conference. Jang Je Won rose to prominence as a congressman, and also as the father of rapper NO:EL. NO:EL was a contestant on High School Rapper before being removed due to bullying and prostitution scandals. NO:EL was scheduled to perform a solo concert on May 31, 2025.
