The Unexpected Reason BLACKPINK’s Jennie Was Refused Permission To Film In A Buddhist Temple Showcases Her Insane Influence
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie recently showcased her unreal influence and popularity after a request was denied by a monk.
Since debuting, BLACKPINK and Jennie have massively seen their fame, popularity, and influence increase. Whether on stage as an idol, representing some of the biggest designer brands like Chanel, or making her acting debut in The Idol, Jennie is one of the biggest stars.
Yet, it seems like Jennie’s influence is so big that it has led her to her requests being denied, even at a place of worship!
On July 13, 2AM‘s Jo Kwon released another amazing video on his YouTube channel. This time, the idol did more activities with Kim Hoyoung and, after a fulfilling day, did some meditation, although it might have been harder than expected to stay calm throughout the class.
After their class, the two had some tea with one of the monks.
Yet, while Jo Kwon and Kim Hoyoung were both enjoying speaking with the monk and casually filming their interactions, it seems like that isn’t a luxury all Korean stars have.
During the video, the monk explained, “BLACKPINK’s Jennie asked me to shoot her vlog here, but I refused it.”
It wasn’t surprising that Jo Kwon seemed confused about why he was allowed, but Jennie wasn’t. Hoyoung asked the monk for the reason behind his decision.
The monk then revealed that he was worried that if Jennie shared content about the location and Buddhism, it could lead to the “commercial consumption” of the religion.
Although it probably wasn’t intentional, the monk made the two stars laugh as he explained that the reason Jo Kwon was able to film was that the idol was “not in the same league yet.”
As always, Jennie showcases her immense influence and popularity. Although it would seem negative that the monk denied Jennie’s request, it actually shows just how popular the idol is.
