Red Velvet recently returned with “Cosmic,” and despite the comeback’s rough start, the album has performed better than expected.

On June 26, SM Entertainment shared the behind-the-scenes recording of “Cosmic,” giving fans a look at the song creation process.

Usually, fans love seeing the group in their element, but some were bothered by Irene’s interactions during her portion.

First, Irene stated that the manager had said that her “face didn’t look great” before she entered the studio.

The main source of fans’ discomfort, however, is how Irene was treated during the actual recording portion. Fans felt that Irene was not given enough instruction and thus had to repeat lines several times.

In addition to noticing how her mood shifted while recording, some did not like when the director told the idol that “she could do better.”

Fans commented on their discomfort with these moments, expressing that it felt like the director was being “condescending.” Joy‘s previous comments about how the members were treated have likely made fans hyper vigilant for any potential issues.

Still, others reminded that because you cannot clearly hear the director, whom some believe to be Kenzie, some inflections and tones may have been lost.
