Red Velvet’s Irene Shocks With Album Sales And Chart Performance Following Solo Debut

Recently achieving their tenth year as a group, Red Velvet has remained a force to be reckoned with, maintaining a faithful fan base always ready for new music.

With their age as a group, several members have been able to make solo debuts.

In late November, Irene became the next to branch out this way, releasing her first solo album featuring the title track “Like A Flower.” In the week since release, Irene has achieved 2.2 million views on the track’s music video, the first of many achievements.

From the initial announcement, netizens were in awe of Irene’s release, including praising her for the “not for TikTok” choreography.

Stats wise, Irene also made some record breaking achievements both with the physical release of her album and the streaming of it.

During the first day of sales, 250,063 were recorded, the highest of all SM Entertainment’s female solo artists and the 3rd highest across all female K-Pop soloists.

Her first week sales came to a grand total of 336,805, the highest first week sales of any female SM artist ever, the 4th highest of all SM solo debuts, and the 7th highest of this year releases across all female K-Pop soloists.

Streaming wise, Irene debuted at #6 on Spotify USA’s Top Album chart, and topped several iTunes charts around the world on the day the album was released.

Fans were very proud of the artist’s achievements, praising Irene for all that she has done with her solo debut, in spite of issues like stocking!
