Red Velvet’s Irene Returns To Instagram After 10 Month Social Media Hiatus
After a 10-month long social media hiatus, Red Velvet‘s Irene has finally returned to Instagram and fans couldn’t be happier!
Since creating her Instagram account in September 2019, Irene was a regular poster on the platform, greeting fans with various selfies, photos, and videos of her life.
However, after going through a controversy in October last year, Irene took time away from social media to reflect. It’s been 10 long months since then, but now, @renebaebae is finally back!
In a new update on the platform, Irene posted an adorable group picture of Red Velvet taken at their recent KBS Music Bank recording for “Queendom”—their first music show stage together in almost two years.
Irene captioned the photo with five hearts, each one representing a different member’s official color. Understandably, fans went crazy over the sweet, unexpected update. Within just minutes, “IRENE” and “RENEBAEBAE IS BACK” were trending on Twitter in various countries.

But that’s not all Irene had in store for fans. A few minutes later, she shared a second update—this time with solo photos of herself. Notably, she seems to have given up her previous Instagram “theme” in which she added white borders to all her photos.
She left a pink ribbon emoji in the caption to match the ribbon on her skirt, but Irene has also been known to use the emoji to represent ReVeluvs as the fandom’s official symbol is a ribbon.
Right away, friends and coworkers of Irene showed their support by liking Irene’s post—including SM Entertainment‘s Performance Director Shim Jae Won and Red Velvet’s backup dancers Yu Seul Ki and Kim Hyun Yi.
And fans were just as supportive too, with both posts surpassing 500,000 likes in less than an hour. Fans hope that this marks a full return to Instagram for Irene with plenty of selfies to come in the future.
