Red Velvet’s Seulgi And RIIZE’s Sungchan Slammed For Their Live Vocals At “SMTOWN in Seoul”
SM Entertainment’s 30th-anniversary celebration concert, SMTOWN Live in Seoul, brought together some of the company’s biggest stars for a two-day spectacle. Among the performances, Red Velvet’s Seulgi teamed up with RIIZE’s Sungchan for a special rendition of Seulgi’s B-side track, “Bad Boy, Sad Girl.”
The original track, which features rapper BE’O, was reimagined with Sungchan joining Seulgi on stage. The performance was kept simple, focusing on the song’s mellow and laid-back style rather than intricate choreography. Despite the unique pairing, the collaboration failed to win over a portion of the audience.
Once the concert concluded, the performance became a trending topic on online forums, particularly Instiz. Unfortunately, much of the discussion centered on negative feedback regarding Seulgi and Sungchan’s live singing abilities. Netizens expressed disappointment, with many commenting that their vocals did not meet expectations for a live event.

Criticism ranged from comments about their vocal techniques to remarks on the overall quality of the performance. Most netizens were particularly surprised to hear criticism of Seulgi, who is typically praised for her vocal talents.
- “Oh….”
- “They really can’t sing.”
- “Totally tone-deaf…”
- “Why is their nasal tone so strong?”
- “Both of them are bad at singing.”
- “This is the first time I’ve heard someone say Seulgi can’t sing.”
