Red Velvet’s Yeri Reveals Her Top Tips For Dieting, Skincare & Positivity During The Pandemic
Red Velvet‘s Yeri may seem perfect, but she goes through all the same problems as her fans—from weight gain to bad skin to feeling down. In a new interview with Allure Korea, Yeri answered these fan questions with her top tips for looking and feeling great.
Dieting
Since idols are generally expected to maintain a slim body, one fan wanted to know Yeri’s top tip for losing weight. The fan confessed that they gained a lot of weight after eating delicious fall foods, especially in their belly area. Of course, packing on the pounds is something a lot of fans can relate to since the pandemic started.
However, judging by Yeri’s advice, it’s not something to get too worried about. The maknae admitted that she’s also been enjoying eating more than usual since the fall season arrived. But, in Yeri’s experience, it’s “easier to lose weight that you’ve gained so rapidly“.

Yeri’s top diet tip? Lately, she’s been following a low-carb meal plan. Low-carb diets typically reduce the amount of rice, pasta, bread, and sugary foods you eat. Decreasing carbs lowers the insulin levels, pushing the body to burn stored fat. Of course, low-carb diets don’t work for everyone, so Yeri advised simply trying a new meal plan of your choice.
Skincare
Fans who wrote in to Allure Korea were filled with praise for Yeri’s beauty—especially her smooth skin. But, like all of us, Yeri revealed she has bad skin days too.

To combat that, Yeri says she tries to reduce how often she wears makeup. Idols are expected to wear makeup for every schedule, and stage makeup can be particularly heavy on the skin. Reducing makeup usage when she’s not working gives the skin time to rest.
The AprilSkin model also advised using lotion “very thoroughly“. Lotion keeps skin moisturized, which encourages the skin to renew itself faster. This reduces everything from blemishes to signs of aging.
Positivity
Last but not least, how has Yeri been staying positive since the pandemic started? Since the Red Velvet star is known for her numerous friendships in the idol industry, it can’t have been easy to stay isolated.
Indeed, Yeri confessed that after COVID-19 hit, she faced a period where she didn’t want to do anything. In fact, she was so down, she couldn’t even be bothered to eat.
To combat those feelings, Yeri said she tried to do more things she loves and increase her activity levels. Even during her Allure Korea interview, Yeri revealed she thought about keeping a positive mind to help others around her become more positive too.
