“She Doesn’t Give A F*ck” — Why Red Velvet’s Yeri Unapologetically Changed Her Style
Red Velvet‘s Yeri dishes on why she doesn’t care about what others think — but she hasn’t always been this way.
Previously, Yeri has received criticism for her styling choices, photos, and more from netizens who claim she’s copying BLACKPINK‘s Jennie. Additionally, she has received criticism for changing her style from her previous cutesy look to a more trendy “hot girl” vibe.
However, in a new interview with Cosmpolitan, Yeri is hitting back at the critics and proving she could care less about their opinions of her.
Uh, there are [judgements against me]. There definitely are. In my job, if I change the shape of my eyebrows even a little bit, I’ll hear, ‘Why’d you change your eyebrows to a seagull shape when you look better with straight eyebrows?’ It used to bother me because I didn’t know myself well and hadn’t set principles. When I heard something like that, I used to think, ‘Should I only do straight eyebrows?’

She reveals that her mindset has become stronger since her debut because she no longer changes to please others.
But that’s living for someone else and not living for me. I didn’t know when I debuted young, but now I decided to live my life for me by doing what I want to do. Now when people I don’t know criticize me for no reason, it doesn’t bother me.

Yeri proves that the best way to deal with unwarranted criticism from people who don’t matter is to follow your own truth and do what makes you happy.
