Red Velvet’s Wendy Breaks 2 Month Silence After Serious Injury With Health Update On Instagram
February 21 marks Wendy’s 26th birthday, nearing almost 2 months since she was hospitalized for a serious injury. Now, she’s broken her silence, surprising ReVeluvs with the sweetest Instagram post.
During rehearsals for the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 25, Red Velvet’s Wendy fell from a platform over 2 meters high. Seriously injuring her pelvis, face, and wrist, Wendy was immediately hospitalized. Because of the severity of her fractures, Wendy has been under hospital care for several months.
Alongside keeping her from her love of singing and performing, Wendy’s injuries also prevented her from communicating with fans. When Red Velvet wrote Lunar New Year messages for ReVeluvs, Wendy was the only one who couldn’t—likely because of her wrist fracture. She’s also the only member who hasn’t joined Dear U, SM Entertainment’s new premium artist-fan messaging service.
Unsurprisingly, ReVeluvs have been missing Wendy like crazy over the past two months, wondering how long it would be before they heard from her again. Most weren’t willing to get their hopes up for a birthday message, but Wendy surprised everyone today by posting a greeting from her personal Instagram account, @todayis_wendy!
Always the sweetheart, bilingual Wendy made sure to write the message in both Korean and English so as many fans as possible could understand. She also accompanied both posts with plenty of pretty selfies for everyone who missed her.
In the message, Wendy thanked everyone for all the love and support on her birthday. She also gave fans the reassuring words they’d been hoping for: “I’m recovering very well, thanks to all of our ReVeluv”.
One part of the message that really touched fans’ hearts was her reference to a past Instagram live stream. During one of her streams where she sings songs for the fans, Wendy told viewers that she wouldn’t be going anywhere. No matter what happens, she promised she’d always be there to sing for anyone who wants to listen.
In her latest Instagram post, Wendy reiterated those words.
As I said during my Instagram live, I won’t be going anywhere but always singing right next to you as Wendy.
— Wendy
Wendy finished up by thanking all her fans for coming into her life and being such a significant part of her journey.
I hope to see you all soon on stage!… Miss you lots💋Muahh😘

Unsurprisingly, fans can’t stop crying after going so long without their beloved singer’s touching words and pretty face.
