RIIZE Fan Physically Assaults Asian Concert-Goer, Accusing Them Of Being A Sasaeng

Fans have often had a complicated relationship with those known to be fansite masters. Fansite masters usually share high-definition photos of their favorite stars for free, sometimes supporting their travels through merchandise sales.

While many love fansite masters for their work, some take things too far, venturing into sasaeng, or stalker fan, territory. These actions include making airport arrivals harder for idols by following them around and through checkpoints.

As a result, fans and idols have taken a stance against sasaengs, which has been encouraged.

However, a recent altercation between a fan and accused sasaeng sparked online debate.

RIIZE are currently on their first fan meeting tour and have completed fancons in Seoul, Japan, and, most recently, Mexico.

In a video clip shared on TikTok with the on-screen caption “Sasaeng at RIIZE’s concert” from the Mexico City show, the fan holding the camera records another concert attendee who holds up a DSLR camera.

Other fans can be heard shouting no, before a hand comes out and pushes the head of the fan holding the DSLR. The fan turns around surprised, and attempts to cover the camera to stop their recording before turning back around.

Fans have expressed disgust over this person’s actions, with many saying that there was no way to know if that person was a sasaeng or not. Many stated that it is xenophobic to accuse any Asian person holding a camera at a concert of such behavior.
