RIIZE’s Sungchan Criticized Over Alleged Bad Attitude Towards Fan During Fansign

He was called out for being distracted.

RIIZE‘s Sungchan has recently been caught in a controversy due to accusations of a bad attitude toward fans. In recent video call fan signs, he was seen being distracted and unable to properly respond to fans. Fans accused him of paying more attention to his own looks and hair rather than the questions that the fan was asking.

In the call, the fan asks him if she can like someone else.

Fan: “Can I like another person?”

Sungchan: “Go ahead.”

Fan: “Really? I can really like another person?”

Sungchan: “Yeah… Yeah… No, you can’t.”

Ah, f*ck, this is just so funny. From the beginning to the end, he’s not listening to the questions [from the fan], but is only looking at his own face.

Although he seems to answer her questions with “go ahead” and “yeah,” Sungchan seemed distracted as he adjusted his hair, before correcting himself and giving the fan a more appropriate answer.

It seems like this is a recurring habit for him, as fans brought up other instances prior where he did something similar. This time, they pointed out how Sungchan paid more attention to his own face, being slow to answer fans as he adjusted the screen to show himself rather than the fan. For video calls, one has the option of maximising one’s own screen vs. the other party’s. Idols have been called out before for adjusting their own screen to be the bigger one in order to monitor their visuals rather than see their fans better.

Sungchan has been caught a few times before for double-clicking the screen to make his own bigger. He missed out on questions while doing that.

On the other hand, some fans defend the star, claiming that he normally has a good attitude towards his fans.

Bad people do one good thing and get judged as a good person, while kind people do one bad thing and get cursed out. I can’t get used to it.

Other also wondered if he had misheard the OP, thinking that she was trying to ask him to do an acrostic poem with her. Still, many found his mannerisms in bad form, especially pointing out his fidgeting with his hair and his “soulless voice.”

That fan’s money and time is wasted.

This is not the first time that an idol has gotten called out for their attitude during videocall fansigns. ZEROBASEONE‘s Kim Jiwoong faced severe controversy in the past when a fan accused him of cursing during the call.
