Published on September 24th (local time), INFINITE‘s “The Chaser” (2012) took #42 which Rolling Stone hailed as the “crown jewel in the discography of [the] famously in-sync K-pop septet.”
In #36 was Seo Taiji and Boys’ “Nan Arayo (I Know)” (1992) a boy band credited with changing the music industry in South Korea despite only lasting four years until their disbandment in 1996. It consisted of members Seo Taiji, Yang Hyun Suk, who went on to create YG Entertainment and in turn the biggest artists ever seen on K-Pop, and Lee Juno.
And if that doesn’t jog your memory, if you’ve seen the film 3 Ninjas, you’ve undoubtedly encountered this song.
Just above five places in #31 is TVXQ‘s “Mirotic” (2008), which Rolling Stone writes that it “established them as critically lauded recording artists, in addition, an existing role as a massive chart force.”
In #22 is BIGBANG‘s “Fantastic Baby” (2012) and was named by the outlet as a “staple party hit,” which has “blew off many doors of American crossover with little effort on the band’s part.”
SHINee‘s “Sherlock” comes in close to the Top 10 as the highest K-Pop track on the list in #12. “Sherlock” is known as South Korea’s first “hybrid remix” track as it consists of two of the group’s songs, “Clue” and “Note.”
You can find the full list at Rolling Stone, which includes N’Sync, Jackson 5, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, One Direction, New Edition, New Kids On The Block, and more!

[+186, -15] SHINee is crazy because out of all Korean idols they’re the only ones that attempt to fuse other genres of music into theirs. People don’t say their quality is amazing for no reason…..’Sherlock’ is the first hybrid mixing song in Korea. Everybody is the first of its kind. They’re always to bring new trends into Korea.
[+162, -8] I’m not a fan but TVXQ’s ‘Mirotic’ and SHINee never goes out of style.
