A Rookie Girl Group Gains Attention After Referencing A Long List Of K-Pop Idols In Their New Song
K-Pop groups and idols are always huge influencers to their junior artists, and many are huge influences when it comes to people getting into the industry.
While netizens have seen idols reference other groups before, rookie idols X:IN have gained attention for taking their respect and love for their seniors to the next level.
On February 19, they released the video for the song “MY IDOL.” The video starts by showing adorable photos of the members when they were young…
Before showing the members singing and having fun.
Yet, halfway through the song, netizens noticed that the lyrics started to reference other K-Pop idols in the most obvious way. Starting by listing the members of BLACKPINK, the girls then spoke about legendary groups like Girls’ Generation, Wonder Girls, and 2NE1.
Along with some of the most-loved female soloists, they then mentioned more girl groups, including TWICE, Apink, ITZY, and more.
Of course, the members certified their ARMY status with a BTS reference.
There was even mention of legendary boy groups, which isn’t something often seen by female idols. They gave a shoutout to the likes of Super Junior, BIGBANG, TVXQ, SHINee, and 2PM.
They then finished with another set of boy groups, with idols from both third and fourth-generation, including SEVENTEEN, ATEEZ, MONSTA X, Stray Kids, and many more.
When the video was shared online and netizens noticed the references, whether it was second-generation groups all the way to fourth-generation idols, fans loved that X:IN included such a diverse range of references.
X:IN are truly talented but also showcased how humble they are by referencing all the idols who have influenced and inspired them throughout their career.
