Singer Roy Kim will be graduating from Georgetown University on May 18th, but will not be attending the graduation ceremony.
Roy Kim was previously investigated on charges of distribution of illegal, lewd content in the group chatroom that included Seungri, Choi Jonghoon, Jung Joon Young and Lee Jonghyun. Roy Kim, who was living in the United States, returned to Korea last month to participate in investigations as a suspect.
Georgetown University strictly prohibits sexual misconduct, which may result in disciplinary suspension or even dismissal.
In regard to Roy Kim’s case, the school announced that they are conducting their own investigation and he even made it to the headlines of the school newspaper with many students petitioning for his suspension.
It seems, however, that Georgetown University has decided to grant Roy Kim his diploma as planned. The decision is most likely influenced by the fact that his punishment has not yet been decided by the Korean police. Moreover, he had no previous criminal record and completely acknowledged his wrongdoings during police investigations.
Even so, Roy Kim will not be attending the graduation ceremony, most likely to avoid the attention of the public eye. Roy Kim is expected to stay in Korea for the time being, even after his graduation.
