Rumors claim “Goblin” Plagiarized “Game Of Thrones”
Rumors surfaced claiming that Goblin plagiarised a scene from Game of Thrones.
Goblin has been receiving worldwide attention with its alluring romantic storyline but a claim has surfaced that one particular scene plagiarised a scene from another internationally acclaimed television series: Game of Thrones.
One video started trending in Korea after claiming that one scene from the first episode of Goblin is visually similar to a scene from Game of Thrones, season 6 episode 9.
The scene in question is the battlefield scene, where Kim Shin (played by Gong Yoo) is battling a whole army by his himself with nothing but a sword. The angles of the camera, the filming pathing, and its focus lengths are all in sync with the scene from Game of Thrones. In this Game of Thrones episode, Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) is battling a massive army charging towards him.
The video showed a side-by-side comparison of the scene to show the similarities between them. However, netizens have defended Goblin, arguing that it is inevitable for a battlefield scene to appear similar, as there aren’t many options in varying the way these scenes can be shot. Others have argued that the camera angles and filming techniques are too similar to be ignored, and that the director must have used this Game of Thrones scene as a reference.
The opinions of the viewers seem to be very much divided, and several are now requesting the director of Goblin to speak out and clarify the situation. As of now, there is no official statement from the director or the staff.
