Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon And Sam Smith Stun With Their Unexpected Chemistry
English singer-songwriter Sam Smith surprised fans by collaborating with Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon.
Sam Smith is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album, In The Lonely Hour. The album contains many hit songs that launched Smith to stardom and was well-received worldwide, including in South Korea.
To celebrate, Sam Smith is releasing In The Lonely Hour (10th Anniversary Edition) album, featuring revised versions of their hit songs. It features collaborations with fellow music artists, such as Alicia Keys and Hikaru Utada.

While the album will be released on August 30 at midnight, you can now listen to a revised version of Smith’s hit “I’m Not The Only One,” featuring Taeyeon.

Universal Music announced that today, August 29, Sam Smith would release a version of “I’m Not The Only One” with Taeyeon lending Korean vocals. Smith explained that Koreans loved the original song so much that they wanted to gift this collaboration to them to express their gratitude.
I was deeply touched by the continuous love Korean fans have shown for my music, including ‘I’m Not The Only One.’ To respond to this affection, I asked Taeyeon to provide Korean vocals for ‘I’m Not The Only One.’ I am truly grateful and delighted that Taeyeon joined this project with her wonderful voice.

Taeyeon also released a statement regarding the collaboration, “I am truly happy to be a part of Sam Smith’s 10th anniversary album project. There was no reason to turn down the opportunity to collaborate with Sam Smith, who is famous not just in Korea but globally. It is a great honor to share in their musical talent and passion.” She added, “Especially, re-creating the song that love in Korean was a new and special experience. I hope this song brings empathy and comfort to many people.”
