SBS variety show “Roommate” to undergo another revamp and lineup change for third season
SBS variety show Roommate – Season 2 will be going under another transformation and revamp for its upcoming third season with its current season is nearing its end.
On March 15th, a broadcast insider told Daily Sports that the second season of Roommate will be ending and they will move on to air a third season. They continue to reveal that “the new season mostly be actor-oriented and who have not been on variety shows.”
Another staffer revealed to the Korean news portal, “The second season is ending. The existing framework of the show will be kept, but the way the episodes are unraveled will be different. A lot of the current cast are leaving and new people will join the program to lead it in a new path.”
Since its inception, Roommate has always suffered from low ratings even with a change of time slot for the second season, which never reached more than 4%, and seemed to rely on several guest appearances to keep the audience’s interest.
The first season of Roommate aired in May 2014 following the end of K-Pop Star 3 and featured a cast of Shin Sung Woo, Lee Sora, Hong Soo Hyun, Lee Dong Wook, Park Min Woo, Seo Kang Joon, Jo Se Ho, Song Ga Yeon, 2NE1’s Park Bom, After School‘s Nana, and EXO‘s Chanyeol.
Following the leave of Shin Sung Woo, Lee So Ra, Hong Soo Hyun, Park Bom, Chanyeol, and Song Ga Yeon, the second season aired in September 2014 with the addition of Bae Jong Ok, Lee Guk Joo, Ryohei Otani, KARA‘s Heo Youngji, g.o.d‘s Joon Park, GOT7‘s Jackson, and Girls’ Generation‘s Sunny.
