Senior Actress Confesses To Starving Herself Before New Projects

Her fellow actresses also share similar predicaments.

The importance placed on low body weight and a slim figure in the Korean entertainment industry is no secret to global fans. But even senior successful actresses are not free from these strict standards, as revealed in a recent YouTube video featuring three top Korean actresses.

Actress Song Yoon Ah, Lee Tae Ran, and Yoo Sun recently appeared on a YouTube channel named By PDC, where they candidly discussed their struggles with managing body weight.

Yoo said that she found it extremely difficult to lose 4 kgs that she had put on after finishing a K-Drama. “I was scared there would be no turning back once I gained weight,” she explained, adding that she immediately went back to exercising out of fear.

Lee Tae Ran also mentioned that she routinely does yoga to keep her body fit and in shape, but the process is never easy. However, she added that she was grateful for having projects to do from time to time, without which she wouldn’t have the motivation to work out.

Song Yoon Ah then joined in with her methods of staying skinny for her dramas, prefacing it by saying it was “very difficult.” The senior actress then confessed that she “didn’t eat anything for two to three weeks at a time” for her projects.

She recalled that when she was younger, starving herself for one or two days was enough to lose weight quickly, but with age, the effects slowed down.

All three actresses in this video are either in their late 40s or early 50s and still active in the industry. While to many, their self-managing methods might seem unhealthy, to others, they might be a sign of dedicated hard work. Which one would you agree with?
