“Business Proposal” Actress Reveals Devastating 5-Year Struggle With Sleeping Pills And Side Effect
Actress Seol In Ah (also known as Seorina), best known for her beloved role in the K-Drama Business Proposal, joined tvN‘s new fitness program, Iron Girls.
In the premiering episode, Seol revealed that even though her fans believed she was healthy—especially based on the active lifestyle that was captured on I Live Alone, she struggled intensely with insomnia and skin-related side effects from sleeping pills.
While explaining why she joined the program, Seol said she wanted to focus on becoming healthier. In the past, over a period of 5 years, Seol grew dependent on sleeping pills to help her get rest at night.
When she realized the sleeping pills were affecting her acting on set, she tried quitting. Without the pills, though, Seol would sometimes go sleepless for 3 to 4 days…
It made me so upset that I was being ‘put’ to sleep by these sleeping pills. And I thought maybe I was not exhausted enough, so I pushed myself to stay busy. I put my body through a lot on purpose. That somehow made people believe I’m diligent and I like pursuing an active lifestyle. But no, I would say it was all for sleep. I moved more so I could sleep more. I found it ironic that I was given a ‘healthy, active girl’ reputation, when I don’t personally think I was ever that healthy to begin with. My goal [with this program] is to actually become healthier.

…which, then, wreaked havoc on her immune system. Seol revealed that at one point, while seeking treatment from larger university hospitals, she was prescribed 24 pills to help alleviate the skin-related side effects she was seeing from the shattered immunity.
I couldn’t focus on set whenever I took sleeping pills. So, starting last year, I tried quitting sleeping pills. And that would keep me up three, four nights a time. That completely messed with my immune system. I had to see doctors at big hospitals… Eventually, I was told to take 24 pills a day to alleviate the symptoms I had all over my skin.
