In 2018, former BIGBANG member Seungri started a new business venture for himself, a club called the Burning Sun, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. Initially, people were excited, and it was highly publicized as it was marketed as one of the best, most high-end bars in Asia with a VVIP menu, including high-priced items.

It was not long before the infamous Burning Sun scandal occurred. It’s not just the most famous K-Pop scandal in history but the most reprehensible sex crime scandal in the Korean industry. The Seungri-owned club was exposed as the location for soliciting underage prostitution, drugging and exploiting women, and even facilitating sadistic sexual violence and illegal “snuff” filming. This was discovered after a man, Kim Sang Kyo, was reportedly assaulted at Burning Sun when he stepped in to help a woman who was being sexually harassed.

On November 24 at Burning Sun, a woman who was being sexually harassed grabbed my shoulder and hid behind me. I asked a security guard for help, but I ended up getting beat up by the security guards and people who seemed like their friends.

Consequently, Seungri was charged with nine different offenses for his involvement with the Burning Sun scandal and sentenced to 3 years in prison. However, it was later reduced to 18 months.

Now, Seungri is back hosting events again.

Seungri recently hosted a crowded fanmeeting in Cambodia. According to fans, it was a birthday event. The event was held at Prince Brewing, a craft beer brewery with a lounge.

During the event, he promised fans he would bring BIGBANG’s G-Dragon to Cambodia. This sparked the crowd’s excitement, erupting screams.

While no BIGBANG members attended, fans reported that local celebrities attended. This has shocked many netizens.

A clip from the event has garnered attention online. Seungri appeared to flip off the crowd while yelling, “F*ck you all.” Fans claimed the context is that Seungri was “defending the country from its bad reputation.” In another clip, he said,Cambodia.. this is the greatest country in Asia.

While loyal fans expressed excitement over Seungri’s public appearance both in person and on X (formerly Twitter), Korean netizens did not share the same sentiment. Some were shocked he was even out of prison.

  • BARF.
  • I thought he was still in prison.
  • Sigh. This is f*cking weird. Something’s wrong with this country.
  • LET US NEVER FORGET BURNING SUN.
  • WTF? How does he have events scheduled…?
  • He must be out of his mind…
  • Wow… It’s a wonder how G-Dragon kept himself from beating this dude up.
  • HA………
  • WTF?
  • He still thinks he’s the sh*t, huh?
  • This is insane. He needs to be put back in his prison cell. He’s a shame to Korea. Sigh.

Previously, a Malaysian fanboy went viral after meeting Seungri not once but twice in Kuala Lumpur. Seungri took a selfie with him and autographed the fan’s G-Dragon album, much to his excitement.
