A few days ago, SEVENTEEN announced an official collaboration with DJ Khaled. He is featured on the title track “LOVE, MONEY, FAME” from the group’s upcoming album SPILL THE FEELS.

Longtime CARATs (SEVENTEEN fans) could not contain their disappointment upon hearing the news. Many are even planning to boycott the new song.

CARATs are concerned about DJ Khaled’s reputation as not being a good person. Although his parents are Palestinian immigrants, he has been living a luxurious lifestyle and remained silent while there is an ongoing genocide in Palestine. Since October 2023, at least 41,788 people in Palestine (many of which were innocent children, women, etc.) have been killed, 96,794 are injured, and over 10,000 are missing due to Israel’s attacks, according to Al Jazeera.

Many CARATs are also alarmed by DJ Khaled’s ties to Zionist organizations and persons, such as Scooter Braun, as well as Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing serious allegations of sexual assault, rape, pedophilia, and much more.

DJ Khaled also has a history of being openly sexist and misogynist. He has said many antiquated things about women and men.

Consequently, some CARATs are boycotting the upcoming title track. Many are concerned that SEVENTEEN’s collaboration with DJ Khaled might taint their good image.

Shortly after the announcement, SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi shared a compilation video of himself from various interviews, namedropping DJ Khaled as a dream collab via Instagram Stories. Hoshi tagged DJ Khaled and added a saluting emoji.

Many CARATs were immensely disappointed after Hoshi’s post, feeling that he had not “read the room” amid their outrage about the collaboration.

Some CARATs feel they aren’t able to necessarily “defend” Hoshi. They think that many K-Pop idols have weird obsessions with basic Western artists.
