What SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi Really Thinks Of PLEDIS Entertainment
SEVENTEEN‘s Hoshi was a recent guest for rapper Lee Young Ji‘s “My Alcohol Diary,” and while most of the interview was filled with laughter as they both kept losing at drinking games…
Hoshi also opened up about his difficulties, especially as an idol well-known for his cheerful image. When SEVENTEEN were resigning their contracts, for instance, Hoshi admitted that he had to force himself to laugh while filming content.
Although I didn’t say it, in the middle of [signing our contracts] there are contents where I need to forcibly laugh.
-Hoshi
Although Hoshi explained that all of SEVENTEEN are incredibly close, there are always difficulties when signing contracts. And as the thirteen members ultimately all decided to resign their contracts, Hoshi expressed his true thoughts about PLEDIS Entertainment.
K-Pop fans have a long list of grievances with PLEDIS Entertainment because although the company is responsible for SEVENTEEN’s immense success, they have seemingly wasted the potential of many other talented groups like After School who were left in “the dungeon” after Japanese promotions. Although After School has not officially disbanded, the only member remaining is Nana.
Girl group PRISTIN is also an example of PLEDIS Entertainment wasting incredible potential. The girl group was filled with many talented members, including Nayoung and Kyulkyung who previously found success in I.O.I. But, just like After School, PRISTIN were discarded in “the dungeon” and ultimately disbanded.
Fans also have voiced their frustration with PLEDIS Entertainment and HYBE Labels‘ handling of NU’EST‘s unexpected disbandment.
But, unlike what might be expected from PLEDIS Entertainment’s other groups, Hoshi feels grateful for his company.
I really love PLEDIS.
-Hoshi
He explains to Lee Young Ji that PLEDIS Entertainment has always supported SEVENTEEN and helped the group reach its great success. And Hoshi even tears up while expressing his gratitude.
They have supported a lot to us since we were nothing. I really love my company.
-Hoshi
