Haters Come After SEVENTEEN’s Joshua Amidst The Recent Shoe-Swapping Controversy
A clip of SEVENTEEN‘s Joshua’s behavior towards Na PD is seemingly trying to paint the idol in a negative way.
Recently, Red Velvet‘s Seulgi apologized after she was spotted trading shoes with her manager during a recent departure to Taiwan.
At Incheon Airport, she was wearing stilettos, but as she arrived, she was in trainers, and her manager wore shoes. After seemingly being criticized for the issue, she apologized, but many thought there was no need and didn’t warrant “poor behavior” towards the staff.
Due to the discourse around the issue, a video was posted of SEVENTEEN’s Joshua from the series NANA Tour that the group did with Na PD, where they were “kidnapped” and taken to Italy.
When Na PD surprised them, they were given a short amount of time to get ready and weren’t allowed to take any luggage or bags. It meant that the members only had what they were wearing, and the clothes came from the clothes they had packed for their tour in Japan. They were then given t-shirts by the crew, which they wore, and a certain amount of money to spend.
The video posted shows Joshua asking Na PD his shoe size.
Due to the heaviness of Joshua’s boots, he swaps them for Na PD’s trainers, and it looks a lot more comfortable to roam around the streets of Italy.
The tweet gained a lot of attention as the OP wrote, “SEVENTEEN’s Joshua, whose feet hurt, exchanged shoes with PD Na Young Seok.” It didn’t seem like a coincidence that it was posted on the same day as Seulgi’s apology.

One fan commented, “Tsk tsk. He should be able to suck it up if he wants to be beautiful. Lacking in masculinity,” which seems to criticize Joshua for his behavior.
쯧쯧 아름다워질려면 그정도는 참아야지. 남성성이 부족하네.

When the tweet was posted, netizens quickly came to Joshua’s defense. In the episode, Joshua reveals there was nowhere to buy sneakers after they arrived.
With the English subtitles, Joshua seemed hesitant to swap the shoes, constantly asking Na PD if it was okay, but the producer was more than fine with the arrangement.
Na PD and the members even joked how he looked like he was ready to attend a fashion show.
Some pointed out that Na PD was more than happy to swap shoes and the context of SEVENTEEN having no time to really pick suitable outfits with the time given. Fans also added that the positive parts of the clip were cut out, showing Na PD and the members joking about the situation. One OP even pointed out that Na PD had other shoes, as shown in another scene, compared to SEVENTEEN, who only had the shoes they wore.
the fact how na pd was pretty much happy with this exchange like can't a man feel like a baddie in shua's shoes pic.twitter.com/OreW307kn0

It’s so creepy how they cut out all the parts where Na PD and the members are joking and laughing together. They’re trying so hard to find something to criticize.

If you don’t know the context of what happened prior to that, SVT had less than 30 minutes to prepare their things for the Nana tour. All their luggage had been packed to go back to Seoul because they had no idea about the ambush trip.

영석님 여분신발 있다고…애들은 납치당해서 당연히 여분이 없지

Na Young Seok PD has extra shoes… The kids were obviously ‘kidnapped’ and couldn’t bring extras. It’s amusing how they keep attacking over a previous controversy.

In both cases, netizens believe there is no reason for idols to get hated because of situations like this and find it unnecessary to bring up clips of others when the topic is trending.
