“Solo Or Enlist” — SEVENTEEN Mingyu’s Dramatic Hair Transformation Sparks A Variety Of Emotions
SEVENTEEN‘s Mingyu recently made a big hair transformation!
Though he has branched out to other colors, as of late, Mingyu has sported dark, usually black, hair of different lengths. The idol looks handsome regardless of the styling, so the lack of color has never been a “concern” for fans.
This changed on January 23, when fans spotted bits of the idol’s hair despite it being covered during an airport arrival.
Shortly after, the idol confirmed fans’ suspicions, showing off his new styling in a multi-photo post on Instagram. As you can imagine, fans loved the look, and the bright blonde made Mingyu’s gorgeous skin tone stand out even more.
However, the sudden transformation has sparked some concerns surrounding his upcoming enlistment.
Male idols are constantly enlisting and being discharged, which has sometimes led to the observation of patterns. One pattern involved a member of the 97 line, NCT‘s Jaehyun.
At the time of his enlistment, Jaehyun was sporting blond, nearly white hair that he kept until his hair was cut. Another member of NCT, Taeyong, was also blond at the time of his enlistment and Jeonghan also went blond at the time of his.
Going blond is usually a multi-step process that is incredibly harsh on hair, leading it to be damaged. These two coincidences have led some to believe that idols will dye their hair blond before their enlistments as the damaged hair will be cut off anyways.
