SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu Showers BTS’s Jungkook “Sunbaenim” With Unexpected Praise During Their Live Broadcast
SEVENTEEN‘s Mingyu couldn’t stop his sunbaenim (senior) BTS‘s Jungkook for the most unexpected reason during their recent live broadcast together.
Of course, netizens are obsessed with the friendship between the two, and it’s always heartwarming to see them meeting up, along with the other members of the ’97 liners.
Yet, despite being the same age and having been friends for many years, by the K-Pop hierarchy, Jungkook is actually Mingyu’s senior as BTS debuted in 2013…
While Mingyu debuted in 2015.
Well, it seems like although the two are friends, Mingyu never misses an opportunity to show “respect” to his sunbaenim.
On July 5 (KST), BTS’s Jungkook surprised fans when he did a 4AM live broadcast with SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu. Of course, from the very beginning, it was truly chaotic, even though it lasted less than two minutes.
Before leaving fans, Mingyu and Jungkook shook hands and while they didn’t want to seem to let go, Mingyu explained, “You’re such an awesome sunbaenim.”
Mingyu then proceeded to call Jungkook “cool” before explaining that he thought he was so amazing for starting a live broadcast at 4AM without even saying a single word.
Jungkook then replied that it was all based on his emotions, and he made ARMYs’ hearts melt. The idol started by saying that if ARMYs missed him or he missed ARMYs, then he would turn it on.
Yet, what’s funnier is despite them both being same-age friends, with Mingyu even being older than Jungkook by just over four months, it isn’t the first time the SEVENTEEN idol has shown respect to his sunbaenim.
Netizens couldn’t hide their excitement when Mingyu and Jungkook finally did the “SUPER” challenge on TikTok. Before they got into dancing, Mingyu bowed to Jungkook and explained, “Sunbaenim, thank you. I should have contacted you earlier.”
Jungkook then continued the sketch by saying responding to Mingyu, adding, “I’ll try my best to film this,” before they wowed netizens with their amazing dancing.
Even when talking about how the challenge happened, Mingyu explained that they just met up and that he was barefooted because he wouldn’t dare wear slippers with sunbaenim.
I didn’t meet up with him (Jungkook) to film the challenge. We just met up, so I figured that we should just film it. I wore slippers, but I wouldn’t dare to wear it (slippers) when filming with sunbaenim.
Jungkook even stuck to the theme of K-Pop hierarchy when he replied, “I see that you’ve uploaded the challenge kekeke. Mingyu hoobaenim; it was fun 🙂”
Of course, how Jungkook and Mingyu speak to each other and joke about the sunbae/ hoobae dynamic showcases how close they are. Hopefully, with the TikTok and now the live broadcast, fans will see plenty more of the two idols together.
