Although the Story appears to be a simple message to his fans, things took an abrupt turn after a fan  reposted it on Threads.

Kim Mingyu’s grammar is the type where it’s good as long as you can understand it.

The post, seemingly poking fun at Mingyu’s English, went viral, with other fans joining in.

  • “It would be good if he added an ‘It’ at the front 😂”

  • “S.H.O.T SHOOT 😍😍”

  • “What the heck is this 😂😂😂 Maybe Joshua will tell him to delete it.”

  • “At least nothing was misspelled. That’s good 👍🏻”

This post and the comments angered other fans, who started voicing a different view.

“Was funny seeing wannabe grammarnazis who probabaly [sic] only learnt English via poorly written textbooks and think they’re the sh*t.

Kim Mingyu’s English is probably better than yours. You even thought you were so amazing with your playful tone. Please, it’s obvious that your conversational skills are poor. Come at me if you disagree.

It’s okay to have poor English, but not when you have poor English but still think you’re amazing. I’m scared of shameless people, but I’m even more afraid when they show off and think they’re cool.”

So funny. There are girls from Taiwan who are criticizing Kim Mingyu’s English grammar again. What’s wrong with his Instagram story? Just shut up. He definitely can speak it better than you…stupid.

– Fan

Other fans agreed with the second point of view, pointing out there was nothing wrong with how Mingyu wrote the message, as it’s typical to drop certain words when writing a casual message.

  • “Do we have to type ‘[it] was fun’ when we make a post in the future? lmfao”

  • “I saw this 😂 I wanted to quote her and say the message wasn’t written incorrectly. Only foreigners like to criticize other people’s English grammar.”

  • “I think we saw the same post 😂😂😂 What’s the point of using textbook grammar to criticize conversational slang? Bruh 😂😂😂 They only memorize things from the textbooks, but their English still isn’t that good. Where did they get their confidence from?”

  • “It seems like I saw the same post 😂 It’s not the first time I’ve seen something like this, so I wasn’t taken aback 😂 I think they try to find things that they can do better than the boys so they can feel better about themselves 😂😂😂”

Regardless of the grammar, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Mingyu wrote a sweet message for his fans!
