Korean netizens expressed anger and horror at the news. Many blamed the Korean judicial system for not persecuting those who viewed explicit materials in the previous Nth Room case and thus creating a lenient precedent for those who watch child pornography.

  • “There are so many psychos. You (the Korean government) can’t even protect the children we have now, so why are you asking us to give birth to more?”
  • “Strengthen the punishment for sexual crimes against minors. Execute the criminals and reveal the identities of all those who watched the materials (photos and video).”
  • “Let’s catch them and torture them before killing them.”
  • “This happened because they didn’t prosecute the people who watched the materials in the Nth Room case.”
  • “F@ck, these guys are just going to receive a slap on the wrist anyways.”
  • “I won’t give birth, seriously. In fact, I won’t even get married. I think I’m going to hate all people.”
  • “Sigh.”
  • “Would you get married when people like that walking around scoff-free in our country whose laws are supposed to protect victims?”
  • “They keep committing crimes because of the light punishment, so the government is basically accessories to the crimes. The government is the real criminal.”
  • “Please, I hope the criminals stand trial in an American court.”
