Shakatak’s Social Media Gets Flooded With Hate Over NewJeans’ Plagiarism Accusation
The latest development in the Shakatak vs. NewJeans plagiarism accusation is not sitting well with the K-Pop girl group’s fans, it seems.
In response to the UK-based band’s recent tweet revealing that a musicologist has been hired to investigate the usage of “Easier Said Than Done” in “Bubble Gum”…
To all our fans and friends in Korea thank you for all your comments about the usage of “Easier Said Than Done” in several recent songs 🎹Our publishing company Wise Music Group is on the case and has employed a musicologist to take this further 👍👍We will keep you posted 👍👍🎹

…some fans have flooded the comments section, slamming the band with hate for taking action. Overall, the comments suggest that it’s the “NewJeans haters” and “HYBE fans” pushing the plagiarism agenda “to make a scene,” and that the songs in questions are not similar at all.
The fierce response has since concerned other K-Pop fans for the negative impact it could have on NewJeans members themselves.
- “What’s wrong with them? The fandom should not add to the drama, it’s not helping.”
- “Ugh… I hate this. NewJeans fans are turning psychotic.”
- [Deleted]
- “NewJeans fans are hypocrites. Like, they didn’t mind ‘trampling’ the other ‘young girls’ involved in this. Now, they’re cyberbullying the plagiarism victims? What is up with them?”
- “The worst…”
- “Talking about ‘trampling on young girls,’ though…? They trampled on young girls, too.”
- “Of course, it’s NewJeans fans. They’re such bullies. It’s hilarious to see them hype each other up through this.”
- [Deleted]
- “I’m not a fan of any of the groups involved. But I think NewJeans fans should have sat this one out.”
- “What’s wrong with them? The things they have the audacity to say…”
- “This is over the line, no? I don’t even think they’re really fans. They’re presenting themselves like the real haters here.”
Those supporting Shakatak and Wise Music Group’s decision to “take [the case] further” remain hopeful that the musicologist will provide more details about the alleged plagiarism.
Stay tuned for updates.
