SHINee Key’s “2024 MBC Entertainment Awards” Acceptance Speech Dubbed “The Best Kind” An Idol Can Give
SHINee member Key‘s acceptance speech at the “2024 MBC Entertainment Awards” is going viral for a key piece of information he included about his future.
On January 28, 2025 (KST), MBC aired its “2024 MBC Entertainment Awards.” There, Key received a “Producer Special Award” for his incredible work on I Live Alone.
Accepting the award, Key thanked the fans and the I Live Alone production team for supporting him and allowing him to grow with the show.
First of all, I would like to sincerely thank my fans who always support me. I’m also very grateful to the production team of I Live Alone for showing me to the world. Producer Heo and the scriptwriters, we’re all working so hard and I believe we’ll be able to continue showing our best to everyone watching. I also want to thank the many staff members working behind the scenes on editing the episodes.

Then, in a playful reference to co-winner Boom‘s speech, Key noted that he doesn’t have any barnacles or a wife to give a shoutout to, but that he looks forward to sharing his day-to-day with the viewers.
What I hope is that I can bring you all a little bit of comfort and joy by sharing the bits of my life alone. While I don’t have any barnacles or a wife at home to thank… I can promise you that I will continue to show you my most natural and authentic self, just doing what I can where I can.

But it was when Key mentioned that he has “no plans to live with anyone for a while” that his fans found the acceptance speech to be extra re-assuring.

Given how controversial (and even career-damaging) dating and/or getting married can become for idols—especially the currently active ones—in the strange land of K-Pop, SHINee fans commented that Key’s speech was “the best acceptance speech an idol can give.”

As soon as he received the Producer’s Special Award, Key immediately thanked the fans who support him, then dropped the greatest blessing of 2025 by saying he has no plans to live with anyone for a while. And then he promised to stay as natural and authentic, just like he always has. What can I say? Key is our hope. A beacon of light. Great work in 2024, congratulations!
