SHINee’s Minho Tells The Shocking Story Of How He Is The Reason ISAC Exists
The Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC) has been an essential event in the K-Pop calendar since 2010, giving idols the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities truly. Over the years, ISAC participants have performed remarkablely well. Still, one idol above all has been consistent in his victories, accumulating many impressive medal hauls.
The idol in question is SHINee‘s Minho, often nicknamed the “sports idol.” Over the years, his physical abilities have left viewers in awe.

Now, Minho revealed that he’s important to ISAC in more ways than one. It was actually his idea to begin with.

Minho guested on ISSUE CLUB‘s Episode 2. He explained that he had jokingly commented that it would be fun if K-Pop companies hosted a sports competition. Managers and productions overheard his conversation with the SHINee members, and they ran with it.
I jokingly said something like this: ‘Wouldn’t it be really fun if companies held a sports competition together?’ And with just that one comment… ISAC came to life because of that. It was just something us members were talking about, but then, our managers and the producers started discussing it seriously, and it actually turned into a real event. At first, because SM had so many artists, ‘It’d be so much fun to have a sports competition just within SM.’ But then our schedules didn’t align, so, we thought, ‘Why not invite other companies to join?’

Originally, the event was going to be held within SM Entertainment since they had many idols. However, because idols’ schedules did not align, they opened it to other K-Pop companies.
